Door and Door Frame Refinishing
One of the projects we can do is refinishing the front door and its frame. We're going to go over the reasons we get calls to refinish the front door and frame and how walking through it affects people psychologically.
Everyone wants a beautiful front door
Front doors signal visitors what awaits them on the other side. A charming entry signifies there is a charming room on the other side, indicating our success. A beautiful door deserves a lovely door frame. The door and the frame should be refinished in tandem because an attractive door in a neglected frame sends a mixed message. Additionally, the door and frame should be comparable to the home's architecture, which is why a wood door and frame are the favored choice of homeowners.
It's silly to say that when a visitor enters a home-- they walk through the door. If they walked through the door, they'd break through it like an old cartoon, perhaps leaving an outline of their body. However, people usually open the door and walk through the doorway. This simple act creates a mental change.
How walking through a doorway is significant
Science indicates that walking through a doorway makes switches go off in our brains. We frequently forget things when we pass through a door because the act signifies to our minds that we have completed a task. Commonly known as threshold forgetfulness, we cross over the threshold and draw a blank as to why we crossed over it in the first place. For example, if you're headed home and want to do your laundry, when you enter the doorway, as soon as you're inside, you'll likely forget about the washing altogether. There's always the hope that you'll remember later.
As for visitors, walking through the door can have similar effects. Once they enter, they forget the details of the outside because walking through the door frame generates a new experience. Hopefully, it's a pleasant one.
Mishaps happen with door frames
Even more than the door itself, the door frame is the protector of our homes. The reason being that when a criminal kicks in the door, their objective is to break the frame, not the door. If a door gets kicked in, it's the frame that takes the majority of the damage. If this door frame is conquered, the burglar can get inside.
Additionally, doors and frames can rot or be damaged by the numerous times they're opened and closed over the years. Sun damage can occur as well as rain and storm damage, even with a door covered by eaves and a porch. At some point, it becomes especially worthwhile to repair and refinish the door frame.
