Choosing the right paint?

“Which paint is the best to use in my home or office?”

This is the most popular question that is asked to me in the 20 plus years I have been painting in Tampa. Each Paint supplier will say theirs is the best.

My answer to this question is that virtually every brand has its good and bad paints. Sherwin Williams top of the line Emeral Interior paint costs over $60 a gallon and is a fantastic paint. On the other end of the spectrum is ProMar 700 at $12 per gallon is barely good enough to spray ceilings with. 

My advice to the consumer is to purchase the best product that you can in any of the major paint companies.

My personal preference is Behr paint from Home Depot. Their top of the line Marque exterior compares favorably with Benjamin Moore Aura and Sherwin Williams Emerald and is a better value at $44 per gallon.

Behrs interior Ultra has a stain blocking primer built in. It has excellent coverage and sticks easily to most surfaces. At $32-$34 per gallon its the best value of the major suppliers.
